Portibi Temple
Portibi temple is situated in the village of Portibi Jae which is on the estuary of Barumun River and Panei River in Padang Bolak.
It is about 82 km from Padang Sidempuan. This village can be reached by public transportation about 450 km from Medan via the eastern coastal road.
Portibi Temple is one of the legacies of the Panei Kingdom which had control of this area in the IX century. This temple has been renovated and has been visited by local and international tourists who want to do research.
Around the temple location, one can also find the historical remains of Biara (monasteries) such as Biara Sipemulung, Bahal II, Aek Sangkilon, Pulo etc.
These monasteries are the holy buildings of the Buddhism.Their maintenance is now managed by the Department of Education and Culture.
