Arts and Crafts
Lots of beautiful arts and crafts are available in many places. They are made from oil or water-based paint, leather, bamboo, and rattan. Sarung Songket (Sarong embroidered with bits of gold or silver thread) from Batubara and Ulos (traditional Batak textile) are well-known crafts from North Sumatra. Local handicrafts made of bamboo, rattan, buffalo horn, carved objects, woven baskets, imitation scepters, wall ornaments, and masks, can be bought here. Some are made of tin, and silk. Women's bags and belts made of leather are also available. You can buy them at reasonable prices.
