The best tourist attraction which makes this regency well-known all over the world is the Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. It is managed by the World Wildlife Foundation (WWF). Due to its popularity, this attraction will be explained in detail.
Bukit Lawang (the nearest village to the Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre) is about 3 hours by car or motorcycle from Medan. Its main attractions are the orangutan rehabilitation centre, the Bahorok river with its fresh and crystal clear water, the beautiful view, the tropical forest and the cheap accommodation.
