CLOTHING
Light weight clothing is advisable because the temperature is rather hot, however, in formal meetings, men should wear ties and be well-dressed. Long sleeve Batik shirts are commonly worn by men for afternoon and evening meetings. Women can wear blouses or kebaya. For cultural gatherings, such as weddings, and funeral ceremonies, special traditional textiles, like "Ulos" (traditional woven Batak cloth) can be worn. This is especially true for those of the closest relatives for parties or funerals. Nevertheless, if you go to mountainous areas, you need jackets and sweaters.
